Important Notes for Entry into Iran

Iran is an Islamic Republic, and its laws and social customs are based on Shia Islam.
Visitors are also required to observe certain rules and manners. Please read the following guidelines before departure.

Dress Code

  • Women must cover their hair with a scarf and wear loose-fitting clothing that does not show body lines.
  • Revealing clothing such as short sleeves, shorts, sleeveless tops, and skirts should be avoided by both men and women.

Prohibited Items and Alcohol

  • Importing or consuming alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited. Violations may result in detention or fines.
  • Pornographic materials, pork products, and narcotics are also strictly prohibited.

Etiquette in Public Spaces

  • Please refrain from physical contact between men and women in public (e.g., shaking hands, hugging, holding hands).
  • When visiting mosques or religious sites, please pay special attention to your attire and behavior.

Currency and Payments

  • Credit cards cannot be used due to international sanctions. Please bring cash in euros or US dollars.
  • In Iran, prices are displayed in “Rial” or “Toman” (1 Toman = 10 Rial).

Communication & Internet

  • Some social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook) are restricted.
  • We recommend preparing a VPN in advance (please avoid using illegal VPNs).

Immigration & Customs

  • Your photography or drone equipment may be inspected upon entry.
  • If you are bringing medication, it is recommended to carry a prescription in English.
